What summer is complete without a county fair?
Join the fun at the Bloomsburg Fair, an eight day extravaganza from September 24 to October 1, 2016.
More than 350,000 visitors are expected at this year’s fair, the 161st year of celebration. It’s the largest county fair in Pennsylvania and one of top 50 fairs in the country, showcasing everything from produce to handcrafts, with traditional agricultural contests, horse races, truck and tractor pulls, a midway with carnival rides and games, grandstand shows and live entertainment. There will be a 4-H horse and pony drill team performing daily, teams of haflingers horses and clydesdales, miniature donkeys, and new for 2016, mutton busting. Don’t know very much about farming? Plan to take a barn tour and learn about livestock and the dairy industry.
Whether you like country music, classic rock or more modern vibes, there will be something for you. For King and Country is playing on the opening Saturday, followed by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Jake Owens with Old Dominion, Lee Brice, and The Band Perry throughout the week. The closing weekend features the Painted Pony Rodeo on Friday, and ventriloquist Paul Zerdin on Saturday.
And then there’s the food! Not only can you have your fill of everything from apple pies to pierogies, pulled pork to potato pancakes, and funnel cakes to fudge, but you’ll even find the PA Preferred Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Cookie/Brownie/Bar, Incredible Angel Food Cake, and Pie Baking Contests.
For a bird’s eye view of the Fair, catch the Skyride, the above-ground transit across the Midway, or climb aboard a Heritage Rotors’ helicopter and see the whole Fair from the air.
So give us a call and book your stay – there’s so much to enjoy at the Fair!
